The idea

Black and white is not colour with the colour removed. It is a different way of seeing: light against shadow, texture against smoothness. That decision belongs at the moment of the shot, not half an hour later on the sofa. So MonoVibe puts the whole look into the viewfinder and then gets out of the way.

Four pads, and nothing else

No filter lists. No sliders buried in menus. Four square pads, each controlling two things at once under a single finger:

• —Colour · the classic optical lens filters, red through green, yellow through blue
• —Texture · clarity against grain
• —Frame · the width and shade of a fine-art border

Drag, and the picture answers at once. The pads tick under your finger as you cross the grid, the way a mechanical dial does. Double-tap one to send it back to neutral; nothing you do is irreversible.

Grain that behaves like film

Grain is where most apps give themselves away — a fixed pattern laid over the picture like a screen door, identical in every frame. In MonoVibe it moves, frame by frame, the way real film does. It comes in three characters: classic, coarse, or fine. And the grain you see in the viewfinder is the grain that ends up in the file, at the same size relative to the frame.

Shoot a series, keep the flow

The shutter saves straight to your library and stays in the viewfinder, so a sequence is never interrupted. The volume buttons work as a shutter too. If you want to take the last frame further, the thumbnail opens it in the editor.

It stays on your phone

Everything is processed on the device. No uploads, no account, no tracking, no subscription. Your photographs keep the data they came with — date, exposure, focal length — and they never leave your hands.
